    A contract that is required to be accounted for as a derivative instrument under Subtopic 815-10. For example, paragraph [815-10-15-70](https://asc.understandingaccounting.org/asc/815/10/#815-10-15-70) states that commitments to purchase or sell mortgage loans or other types of loans at a future date shall be evaluated under the definition of a derivative instrument to determine whether Subtopic 815-10 applies.
